I founded Herbert William Kitchens in 2007 following 15 years in retail, specifically in customer service and 10 of those as a Kitchen designer for a small local independent Kitchen showroom. Aged 30 I took an adventurous back packing year out of my career it was during this year I aspired to start my very own Kitchen Design business on my return to the UK. I named the company after my two late Grandad’s; Herbert and William.
With a good deal of hard work, happy clients and gorgeous kitchens the small business has grown to what it is today to a creative and passionate team of twelve.
My role has changed from Kitchen Designer to Managing Director. I now look at ways to improve customer experience, striving for consistency so that every client experiences the personal touch of the Herbert William way. I examine products to ensure we are offering innovative and quality leading edge materials and technology. I look at offers and negotiate with suppliers to be certain we remain competitive in an ever changing market.
We strive to create beautiful unique long lasting kitchens in homes throughout the new forest and be remembered for our personable and outstanding consumer experience. Design through to installation and beyond.
Katie is our accounts manager. She deals with supplier and sales invoices and keeps a very keen eye on the books, the showroom, the warehouse and Sarah. In a very quiet way she knows exactly what is going on at all times and helps keep a tight ship.

Between us we have over 40 years of experience in kitchen design and installation. We have worked together as a team for the last 4 years. The success of Herbert William is testament to this team effort and by creating the partnership we can offer greater structure and security to our clients. As a partnership we can undertake the design work, the supply and now with more confidence than ever before the installation and realisation of the dream.
Lorna obtained a BA Hons in Interior Design at Bournemouth University, including a year at a well-established multi-disciplinary Design & Architects firm. Her career soon took off in the interior
design industry and her passion for design grew.
Over the past 17 years in her career as an Interior Designer she has gained extensive experience & knowledge working alongside Architects and other interior designers on full house refurbishments & new builds to create a wide variation of bespoke and unique designs for a diverse range of client projects from London to Antigua, including a specific focus on Sandbanks, Dorset. She has designed
not only kitchens but all rooms in her client’s homes and enjoyed advising on all aspects.
During her career as an Interior Designer Lorna has been privileged enough to work with many high-end kitchen brands and products from companies such as Gaggenau, Subzero, Miele, Rolf Benz,
Interlubke and FlexForm, all of which have aided her in creating unique designs for her clients.
She also started up and ran a contract kitchen company for an established bathroom supplier in the New Forest but her passion for personal residential design pulled her away from contracts and led
her to working for Herbert William, where she could get back to the one to one client interaction.
“I have always been excited by working closely with my clients to achieve a design that makes their home a place of their dreams. Design is about listening to what your client wants and not about simply following the latest trends. Our homes are an extension of ourselves and should be reflected in the design. Creating a design that is truly unique to each of my clients is what keeps me excited about design. I like to use new products/technologies in the most effective way for my clients but also not to forget the fundamental aspect of designing for anyone ‘it is their personal space and therefore must suit their needs’.”
Grant has been in the industry for 8 years and has continued to push boundaries in the way that kitchens are designed! Alice has recently joined the team at Herbert William after working for another independent kitchen retailer for the past 6 years. She has a passion for creating beautiful yet functional spaces. Alice will work collaboratively alongside you to bring your dreams to life, discussing your requirements, colours, materials and appliances whilst guiding you to achieve a truly unique kitchen that works for and excites you.
She is going to graduate in 2019 on the Bucks New University Kitchen Design Foundation Degree which is the first recognised kitchen degree in the UK. She has enjoyed inspiring lectures from some of the industry’s leading names and brands. The course has sparked Alice’s particular interest in accessible design, which involves making the kitchen functional for people of all abilities as she believes good design should not be exclusive.
Alice believes design shouldn’t just be throwing units around a room but instead, creating a space that is an extension of the family home and an expression of your personality!”
